Al Gomes has more than 30 years of experience within the music industry. He is founder and operator of an award-winning music company called Big Noise. Within his company, he helps clients with music career consultations, music production and promotion, artist development and film and television licensing.
Gomes earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in communication at Rhode Island College in Providence, Rhode Island. While attending school at the college, he worked for the school newspaper and radio station. He wrote as a columnist at The Anchor newspaper. He also served as an arts and entertainment editor. The WRIC radio station recruited him as a DJ, but he eventually produced a syndication show for the station as well. He also produced two original musical plays, 'Suite Samantha' and 'Rich Moves' while at the college.
He established Big Noise in 1990. The company, an independent music firm, was developed for artists who had talent, but may have been overlooked by big-time music companies. He and A.Michelle have put years into the making of the company, which is today an award-winning music firm.
In its 20 years, Big Noise has collected approximately 10 esteemed awards. The firm has also helped in the release of more than 300 recordings from artists who come from a variety of genres. Big Noise prides itself on managing projects from beginning to end. The firm helps artists budget their project, schedule studio time and make important decisions in regards to branding and public image. For independent artists who may have a hard time putting their music together, Big Noise helps with art direction for record packaging and manufacturing and distributing the finished product.
Big Noise primarily works with independent artists who are just getting started, but Gomes has an impressive list of associates within the mainstream industry. He can add a variety of popular productions to his resume. He has worked with famous people in the music business.
Gomes was part of the group that launched the career of Christina Aguilera. He was the Director of Online Entertainment and Marketing for Three Wishes Productions. He worked as publicist, web master, biographer, archivist, promoter and marketer for Aguilera and her company. Furthermore, he produced two singles for the pop star: 'Holiday with Christina' and 'What A Valentine Wants.'
Over the years, he has worked with Katharine McPhee from American Idol, Paul Doucette of Matchbox 20 and popular producer Shelly Yakus. He has also been involved with bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and Little Anthony and the Imperials. He has composed music with songwriters such as Sean Callery, Mike Viola, Jimmy Crane, and many more.
Gomes started the Bandwagon Project to increase awareness about the hungry and homeless in America. The Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Foundation gave The Jefferson Award to the project, which has raised thousands of dollars towards providing food and shelter for the homeless, for outstanding public service. The project involved several public figures that teamed up to record the 'Three Sides of Hunger' single 'A Piece of Our Hearts' and perform at two televised concerts.
